Convívio 2GTO2825

The municipality of Almada, Portugal plans to relocate the informal settlement of Segundo Torrão despite the community’s desire to stay. Convívio 2GTO2825 demonstrates how the community can become unified, empowered, and given voice to realise their ground-up vision. It does so through reactivating the unifying potential of the site, Place do Convívio, with two local participatory initiatives, art (serigraphy and rap/ hip hop) through 2GTO2825 and science (coastal monitoring research) through the New Science Decision Makers project.

As a key part of the thesis, the Design Manifesto outlined early intentions and research for the project.
