TEATHER
The project is based on integrating migrant cultures into a community using tea growing as a social engagement device. The proposal seeks to bio-remediate and convert a former chemical plant site into a tea plantation with mixed-use co-op housing. The plantation and processing of tea would be managed by the community and sold on site.
At the heart of the community lies the Teather Tea Centre, a cultural, social, and economic hub where Western and Eastern tea cultures mix. Functioning as a lab for processing tea and an educational place where the history of tea culture can be understood.
